PREPARATIONS for the forthcoming football season are well underway for the district’s three Evo-Stik Premier League clubs.

Ossett Albion, Ossett Town and Wakefield FC - who will all play in Division 1 North this season - have started their summer friendly matches ahead of the big kick-off on Saturday, August 13.

Albion started their friendly matches last night with a 3-1 victory at Pontefract Collieries.

Dean Wharam scored twice and Andy Hayton also found the back of the net as the Warehouse Systems Stadium club kicked-off their summer friendly matches in winning fashion.

Albion have been forced to postpone their home friendly against Nostell MW on Thursday due to delays in ground preparations, but the club is confident it will be ready for Saturday’s visit of Worksop Town (kick-off 3pm).

Ossett Town will travel to Northern Counties East League side Hemsworth MW on Saturday (kick-off 2pm).

Steve Nicholson’s Wakefield FC are in action tomorrow night, Thursday, at Tadcaster Albion (kick-off 7.30pm).

The match was due to be played tonight but has been moved back a day.
