MARK Robins has resigned as Barnsley FC manager after 20 months at the club.

Robins, 41, was reported to be considering his future at Oakwell after a disagreement with the Barnsley board of directors over next season’s budget.

The club revealed last week that the budget for loan players was to be cut and that the recruitment policy would be reviewed.

Robins joined the Tykes from Rotherham in September 2009 and guided them to a 17th place finish in this season’s npower Championship campaign.
