Wakefield FC fall to rare home defeat against Skelmersdale

WAKEFIELD FC fell to a first league defeat at College Grove in nine games as Skelmersdale United left with all three points thanks to a 2-0 win last night.

Chris Almond fired the visitors ahead in the 24th minute before Matty McGinn added a second ten minutes later.

The defeat was the Bears’ first in Evo-Stik Division 1 North since September when they lost 3-0 against Trafford and comes following a 3-0 loss against Mossley last time out.

Ossett Albion had to settle for a share of the spoils against Garforth Town at the Warehouse Systems Stadium.

Eric Gilchrist’s men were desperate for three points in the battle against relegation and Richard Tracey fired them ahead in the 38th minute from the spot.

But Town levelled just a minute into the second half through David Brown and that’s the way it stayed.
