WAKEFIELD FC returned to Evo-Stik First Division North action at Clitheroe on Saturday and the Bears produced an impressive performance to win 3-2.
The deadlock remained unbroken until the hour mark when Danny South fired the visitors ahead from 25 yards.
Brandon Kane made it 2-0 on 75 minutes only for the hosts to open their account through Tom Williams with four minutes remaining.
Wayne Shooter restored Wakefield’s two-goal lead with a fine finish deep into injury time and Jack Higgins’ even later penalty proved too late for Clitheroe.
The Bears will be hoping to replicate the victory when they entertain Witton Albion tomorrow, Tuesday, evening.
Ossett Albion’s trip to Bamber Bridge was postponed last Saturday, as was the Premier Division derby between Frickley Athletic and Ossett Town.
