A TALENTED footballer from Wakefield has jetted off to Italy to pull on the Three Lions for England Colleges U17s.

Jarrod Smalley, from Hall Green, is part of the England squad that is competing in the prestigious Roma Caput Mundi tournament in Rome this week.

The 17-year-old plays for Leeds City College Football Academy’s 1st team and is also on the books of Farsley AFC.

And his performances have caught the attention of the England Colleges coaches, who deemed him good enough to get on the plane to Italy.

“It feels really good to be representing the College,” said Smalley. “I never expected to get the call but I am over the moon.”

The Leeds United supporter was selected out of more than 100 footballers from across the country that took part in a training camp in Telford.
