Leeds United defender waiting on offer

LONG-serving Leeds United full back Frazer Richardson is hoping for a new deal to stay at the club.

The player who is the last link with United's Premier Division days is coming towards the end of his current contract and is waiting on what Leeds offer before considering other options this summer.

Richardson has found himself in the reserves in the closing weeks of the season after recovering from a long term injury, with Jonathan Douglas preferred to him at right back as United finished the campaign with a good run and manager Simon Grayson did not want to disrupt his team.

The 26-year-old has not started a game since January, but his agent, Alex Black, is expecting the offer of a new deal from Leeds.

He said: "It seems that there's going to be an offer from Leeds, although we're not sure of what level that will be at.

"Everything's a bit fresh at the moment because the season only finished on Thursday but I'm planning to sit down with Frazer in the next couple of days and see what's he's thinking. We'll then see what Leeds have to say.

"He's been there a long time and he's not desperate to leave by any means but he does need to make sure that he makes the right decision for his career.

"When we know where Leeds stand, we'll be able to properly assess the situation but we honestly haven't explored any other opportunities because Frazer has been totally focused on the last few months of the season. The first port of call is to see what comes from Leeds."
