Leeds United will be strengthened, says chairman
LEEDS United fans may be resigned to losing two key first team players in Jermaine Beckford and Jonathan Douglas, but the team will be strengthened this summer, according to chairman Ken Bates.
With Beckford on the transfer list and Douglas released after both could not agree new terms with United, it has been a gloomy initial reaction to the club missing out on the League One play-off final and promotion.
However, Leeds chairman Bates has indicated that Simon Grayson's squad would be added to and that there were "a lot of discussions going on" with a view to bringing new recruits to Elland Road.
He said: "I can promise the fans they will see quite a bit of activity over the summer. Simon knows exactly who he wants and which positions he wants to strengthen.
"We've got the nucleus of a very good team. It's a question of adding to it rather than re-building."
