Prutton guides Leeds United Reserves to league title
DAVID Prutton's 10th minute goal guided Leeds United Reserves to a 1-0 victory over Rotherham United and the totesport.com East League title.
At a rain-soaked Elland Road, team manager Neil Thompson fielded a strong side captained by Frazer Richardson and blessed with senior stars Lubomir Michalik, Andy Hughes and Liam Dickinson.
But it was Prutton who scored the winning goal when the visitors failed to clear a corner and the midfielder took advantage to fire in on the half-volley.
Leeds didn't have it all their own way however and Tom Thorley twice went close to equalising, first hitting the bar with a ferocious drive and then heading wide when he was left unmarked at the back post.
