TEAM WFR go into the final round of the MCE British Superbikes Championship this weekend with Alex Lowes in with a real chance of the title.
The Ossett-based team will travel to the famous Brands Hatch circuit for the three-race Round 12 meeting with Lowes placed third and just 24 points behind leader Shane Byrne, of Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki.
The Lincolnshire rider will go into the weekend on the crest of a wave thanks to a double victory at Silverstone last time out that shot him up the standings.
Lowes and the Ossett team had been waiting all year to top a podium and did it twice at the famous circuit.
His winning form has come at just the right time, with Lowes going from a late inclusion in the end-of-season Showdown play-offs - for the top-six riders going into the last three rounds of the season - to bagging an impressive podium finish in Assen, Holland, two rounds ago and first place finishes at Silverstone.
The Lincolnshire speedster will need to be at the top of his game again at Brands Hatch but, whatever the outcome, Team WFR can look back on a successful season in the championship.
Their only chance of silverware doesn’t just rest with Lowes.
His team-mate James Westmoreland is also in pole position to claim the Riders’ Cup, for the remaining riders outside the top-six.
He’s 20 points clear of nearest rival Noriyuki Haga going into the weekend and will be out to defend that lead at Brands Hatch to complete a memorable season.
