Wakefield Harrier Sally Smith enjoyed probably the best weekend of her career so far when she set two U20s club records at the Northern Track and Field Championships, in Manchester.
Smith claimed silver in the U20s 400m with a new club record best of 56.29s, which improved on the previous record, set by Mikaela Harrison in 2007, by just 1/100th of a second.
The young Harrier was in record-breaking form once again the following day when she clocked 2:09.47 to win gold in the 800m.
Smith’s time took more than a second off the previous record set by Lauren Proctor in 2008.
That wasn’t the only success for Wakefield Harriers in Manchester and U20s pole vaulter Abigail Roberts propelled herself to the top of the U17s rankings for 2013 with an outstanding new club record leap of 3.80m.
