Wakefield Phoenix Netball Club celebrated another successful season with their end-of-year presentation evening last week.
The evening capped a memorable campaign for Phoenix, who took part in umpiring courses and a FastNet trip as well as Junior League duties this season.
The special guest on the night was Yorkshire Jets captain Jo Walker, who presented the girls with their awards.
For the under 12s, Chi Chi Nyamayeden was named as Player’s Player of the Year, while Alissa Queenan took Most Improved Attacking Player and Ellie Thompson shared Most Improved Defensive Player with Hannah Scanlon.
Isabelle Lindley also received an award as she was named Hi5 Most Improved Player.
For the under 14s A team, Beth Cooke was named Players’ Player, Sadie Groves took Most Improved Defender, while the Most Improved Attacker award was once again shared, this time by Lauren Race and Kate Atkinson.
In the B team awards, Georgia Green claimed Players’ Player, as Most Improved Attacked went to Katy Tolson and Maddie Joyner was named Most Improved Defender in the final award of the night.
Wakefield Phoenix U16 team were also presented with their end of season awards this month.
The under 16s train with the seniors and so their presentation took place earlier in the month.
Jess Holland took Players’ Player, while Kate McManus and Hayley Marsden shared Most Improved.
The under 16s also lifted the Division Two Plate to cap a memorable year.
