Sandal’s winning run came to an end at local rivals Cleckheaton on Saturday but they remain top of National 3 North.

In testing weather conditions, the teams failed to cross the whitewash and they had to settle for a single penalty apiece in a 3-3 draw.

Mark Pease bagged Sandal’s only points of the game but the visitors saw a last-minute penalty hit the post as their run of 14 wins came to an end.

Mike Piper landed the points for Cleckheaton who remain unbeaten at home this season.

Despite the stalemate, Sandal remain top of the division, just one point ahead of Sale.

Cleckheaton are fifth, four points behind fourth-placed Firwood Waterloo.
