AFTER a week’s break from their National 3 North campaign, Sandal return to action today, Saturday, hoping to extend their perfect home record.
Sandal, sitting pretty in fourth spot in the league, have won all five of their games at Milnthorpe Green so far this season and that is a record that boss Jim Kilfoyle will be keen to maintain when Burnage visit this weekend.
The Stockport based side have had a mixed start to the season and sit in 11th place, 15 points adrift of Kilfoyle’s side.
However, their matches have generally been close affairs and, in ex-Wakefield fly-half Ross Winney, possess a player who has learned his trade at a much higher level.
As well as boasting a perfect home record, Sandal go into the clash having won their last three outings and another victory could make up ground on the leaders in the table.
Full-back Tom Coad, centres Mark Pease and Dave Martin, second rows James Stewart and Rob Overton are all unavailable but winger Alex Orr, centre Joe Atkinson, second row James Riley and flanker James Briscoe make welcome returns to the match day squad.
Also returning is prop John Warwick who is in line for his first start of the season.
Sandal squad v Burnage (home, kick off 2.15pm): J Ellar, A Orr, J Allott, J Atkinson, S Frewin, J Mulhern, G Wood, M Whittingham, J Purcell, J Heron, R Norbury, L Norbury,J Warwick, A Thompson, J Riley, S Maguire, J Gatus, J Briscoe, S Whittingham.
