SANDAL made an emphatic return to winning ways in National 3 North with a 10-try demolition of Birkenhead Park at Milnthorpe Green.
After last weekend’s disappointing loss at Lymm, Jim Kilfoyle’s side made no mistake against Park and dominated throughout in a thumping 66-14 victory.
The hosts wasted little time in getting onto the scoreboard, skipper Greg Wood kicking a penalty on four minutes and winger James Ellar sprinted 50 metres to add an unconverted try to Sandal’s tally three minutes later.
It was 1S-0 within five minutes, scrum-half Gareth Newman finishing off an incisive break to touch-down and Wood converted.
Simon Frewin burst through a lacklustre Park defence to score a Wood-goaled try midway through the half and although Park opened their account when their pack pushed over five minutes before the break, Wood kicked a penalty to give Sandal a 25-7 half-time lead.
The second-half proved to be a precession as the Sandal backs scored at will against the crumbling hosts.
Ellar and Frewin bagged their second tries of the game, Rob Overton, Tom Coad, Dave Martin, Max Whittingham and Mark Pease added further tries and Wood kicked three conversions.
Park doubled their tally with a consolation converted try in the last play of the game.
