Tickets are now on sale for England Hockey’s NOW: Pensions Nations Cup triple-header against Olympic silver medallists the Netherlands at Wakefield Hockey Club.
The city was awarded the top international hockey series, to be held from Thursday, August 1 until Sunday, August 4, after the College Grove club brought its facilities up to international standards before last year’s Olympic Games in London.
Three games will be played in Wakefield as England prepare for their TriFinance EuroHockey Championships campaign in Belgium. England U21s will also take on Malaysia U21s in warm-up matches before each senior match as they gear-up for the Junior World Cup later this year.
The series follows on from Wakefield hosting the China women’s team ahead of last year’s Olympics. China used College Grove as their training base and also played two international matches against Scotland.
England Hockey chief executive Sally Munday is looking forward to the series and is excited to bring top-class hockey to Wakefield.
“We’re delighted to be able to offer international hockey at Wakefield, as we feel it’s important to give a spectator experience to supporters to a wider audience,” she said.
“The Dutch are a fantastic hockey nation and we look forward to welcoming them to England for what promises to be an exciting battle.”
Wakefield Hockey Club also hosted the EH National Men’s Cup Final between Premier League teams Hampstead & Westminster and Surbiton in May and they continue to be rewarded for completing major improvements to their facilities.
Tickets for the three-match series are now on sale and start at £15 for adults per match and £7.50 for concessions. Three-match tickets are also available.
