The race for the title and promotion from National 3 North will go down to the final day of the season after Sandal completed the double on previous table toppers Harrogate.

Sandal chalked-up their 11th straight win and made it 18 games unbeaten with a hard-fought 19-8 win at Harrogate, who slip to second place in the table as a result.

Tries from Jonny Gatus and Max Whittingham, together with two penalties from Greg Wood, gave third-placed Sandal the edge and keeps their dreams of promotion alive.

Sandal host Bradford and Bingley on Saturday, looking to complete a 100 per-cent home record for the entire season and hoping that leaders Chester or Harrogate will slip up in their final outings.

Chester, four points ahead of Sandal, entertain Rossendale on Saturday while Harrogate, now only three points above Jim Kilfoyle’s men, travel to Billingham.

The champions will be automatically promoted and the team who finish second in the division will go into a promotion play-off clash.
