Wakefield’s Alicia Blagg has teamed up with Rebecca Gallantree to win a brilliant gold medal in the Commonwealth Games women’s 3m synchronised springboard final, in Glasgow.
The City of Leeds Diving Club duo were in third place after two rounds of the final and remained in third at the end of the next round of dives.
They moved up to second place in the fourth round after a back two-and-a-half somersault with pike.
But the pair saved the best for last and nailed a forward three-and-a-half somersault dive in the final round to clinch a sensational gold medal for Team England.
Blagg, 17, and Gallantree won with a total of 300.24 ahead of Canada’s Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware, in second, and Australia’s Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith, who won bronze.
