OSSETT speedway rider Jack Parkinson-Blackburn racked-up an impressive nine-point haul to lead Sheffield Tigers Cubs 125cc team to a 21-21 draw at Somerset last week.
The 12 year-old Ossett Academy student skippered the Tigers’ side that travelled to Burnham-on-Sea and matched the hosts who boasted newly-crowned British 125cc champion Tom Brennan and last year’s British champion Henry Atkins within their talented ranks.
Parkinson-Blackburn also came within a whisker of adding the British Youth Championships title to his ever-growing collection of silverware.
Two wins and two second-place finishes secured a place in the winner-takes-all final of the last round of the championships at Sittingbourne, Kent.
Parkinson-Blackburn started from the inside gate but was beaten to the first corner by Northampton rival Daniel Gilkes.
The Ossett youngster battled to find a way past but Gilkes held on to lead the field home.
