Athletics: Harriers’ Mason earns call-up for Europeans
Annabel Mason
WAKEFIELD Harriers’ Annabel Mason has been selected for the Great Britain junior women’s team that will compete in the European Cross Country Championships, in Hungary next week.
Mason, 16, has been named in the 36-strong Great Britain team that will compete in Budapest on Sunday, December 9 following another impressive display at the McCain UK Cross Challenge races in Liverpool.
The event incorporates the European trials and despite facing older, more experienced competitors, Mason ran superbly in the combined U17s and U20s race.
The Harrier crossed the line in fifth overall and second in the U17s category, recording a time that was less than 30 seconds behind U20s international starlets Emelia Gorecka and Jessica Judd, who will join Mason in the Great Britain team in Hungary.
