Collins looking for more consistency from 'Jekyll and Hyde' Ossett Town
RELEGATION threatened Ossett Town's 'Jekyll and Hyde' performances have put them up with the UniBond Premier Division play-off hopefuls on current form.
But despite taking four wins from their last eight matches, form that will see Town rise up the table should it continue, boss Simon Collins is calling for more consistency from his men.
"Four wins in eight games is great for us," said Collins.
"If we went all season getting results like that then we'd be in the play-offs, so the situation isn't drastic."
"But we can't put our finger on why we're so good in one game and then not so good in the next.
"We'll just keep plugging away and trying new things and hopefully we can get some kind of consistency together and string a few back-to-back wins together.
"We all know what a few wins can do for you in this league."
Town face two 'winnable' matches in the space of a week when they travel to Matlock Town on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) and host Whitby Town on Tuesday night (kick-off 7.45pm).
And Collins is hoping his men are fired up for a revenge mission when Whitby make the trip to Ingfield, after his town troops slipped to a 5-2 defeat at the seaside earlier in the season.
"We owe Whitby one," he said.
"We went up there earlier in the season and put in a shocking performance so the lads should be pumped up for it.
"But they've (Whitby) pulled off some big results against top teams this season so it will be tough."
Town will be going in to both games without the services of Tom Claisse and Craig Smith, who've both moved to pastures new.
Youngster Claisse was snapped up by promotion hopefuls Bradford Park Avenue after the Horsfall Stadium club put in seven days' notice for the player, while Smith has moved to Harrogate Railway Athletic.
"We just can't compete the the wages teams like Bradford are throwing about," said Collins.
"But Tom goes there with out best wishes, he gaves his all for Ossett Town while he was here.
"Craig wanted to play football and he wasn't guarenteed that here so he decided for a move away, which I'd have done if I was in the same situation and wanted games on a weekly basis."
