Former Wakefield FC trio on trial with League of Ireland side Dundalk FC
A TRIO of former Wakefield FC players are on trial with League of Ireland Premier Division side Dundalk FC.
Goalkeeper Jan Zolna, defender Luke Danville and striker Danny South have all travelled across the Irish Sea to try and impress Dundalk manager Seán McCaffrey.
They were recommended to the Oriel Park club by former Bears manager Ronnie Glavin, a close friend of McCaffrey.
Zolna and South played for Wakefield in the Evo-Stik Premier League this season but both left after the club fell into financial difficulties.
Danville featured at Wakefield under Glavin but moved on to play for Division 1 North rivals Harrogate Railway Athletic.
They’re three of up to 13 trialists that started pre-season training with the Irish club today and they’ll be looking to win deals with Dundalk before the start of the Irish season in mid-February.
