Huddersfield Town name former Leeds United boss Simon Grayson as new manager
FORMER Leeds United manager Simon Grayson has been named new boss of Huddersfield Town.
The 42-year-old replaces Lee Clark, who was sacked last week, and has penned a three-and-a-half year deal at the Galpharm Stadium.
Grayson was sacked as Leeds United boss just over a fortnight ago and had been one of the front-runners for the Terriers position since Clark's departure.
He's helped Blackpool and Leeds to promotion from League One, something which proved key in his appointment at Town.
Terrier chairman Dean Hoyle told the official Huddersfield site: "We are well positioned in the league and I believe we are still in position to challenge for automatic promotion this season, but we do have a gap to make up to second place. I believe this is still achievable given the players we have at the Club.
"Simon has a proven track record of success in this division. He knows League 1 inside-out and he knows exactly what it takes to get teams promoted to the Championship, having done so at both Blackpool and Leeds United.
"Throughout his managerial career he has operated with the pressure to succeed and expectations that go along with that. We are delighted he has taken up the challenge and we look forward to working with him."
Grayson's first game in charge of Town will be on Saturday when Exeter City are the visitors to the Galpharm Stadium.
