Kear confirms Wildcats' player recruitment deals
WAKEFIELD Wildcats head coach John Kear has confirmed that some deals have already been done to bolster his squad for 2011.
The Belle Vue club have yet to make public any new arrivals for next season but Kear has announced that player recruitment is well under way with some players already having penned deals with the Cats.
And the Wakefield boss has already made some decisions on releasing players who are at the end of their contracts at the end of this season.
"We'll make some re-signing and recruiting announcements following the end of the season," he said.
"We want to get this season done with, we're still trying to achieve within this season so we don't want it to appear that the cue's gone on the rack and all we're thinking about is next season.
"There's work going on and there's signings been made and there's been decisions about releasing people made as well but it's not been made public.
"We're attempting to keep our focus on the hear and now of what's happening now. It's because of how we were performing at that particular time that we decided that we weren't going to discuss 2011 until we'd sorted out 2010."
Featherstone Rovers duo Jessie Joe Parker and Tommy Lee, as well as St Helens' Nick Fozzard and Warrington Wolves' Kevin Penny have been linked with a move to Belle Vue in 2011.
Tevita Leo-Latu has already penned a deal with Salford City Reds next season, as confirmed by the Lancashire club, and Sean Gleeson has also been rumoured to be following him across the Pennines.
Gleeson is out of contract at the end of the current season and Kear is unsure what the future holds for the winger.
He said: "I don't know, he's out of contract and he's entitled to get the best deal with his work as anyone else could when they're out of contract.
"Should he go I wish him all the best but he's a Wakefield Trinity Wildcats player until the end of November this year."
