Kilfoyle bolsters Sandal squad with new signing

SANDAL boss Jim Kilfoyle has taken advantage of the prolonged break in National League 3 North action by adding a new signing to his squad.

Last weekend’s postponement of the home match against Lymm for a second time due to a frozen pitch kept Kilfoyle’s troops on the sidelines but that has given newly-signed second row Arran Tasker the chance to train with his team-mates.

The 21 year-old has made the switch from Yorkshire Two outfit Wath upon Dearne and Tasker has impressed coaches Kilfoyle and Dave Heron in training as he looks to make the step up to National League level.

The new man will not feature for Sandal today, Saturday, when they travel to third-placed Chester.

With Darlington Mowden Park flying high at the top of the league, the Hare Lane side are chasing the one promotion play-off place and will be looking to avenge their 27-24 defeat in a thriller at Milnthorpe Green earlier in the season.

Kilfoyle is without second row Austen Thompson and centre Mark Pease due to work commitments.

Sandal 1st XV squad v Chester (away, kick-off 2.15pm): T Coad, J Mulhern, D McCormack, D Martin, T Smith, S Lig, G Wood, G Newman, J Warwick, J Heron, R Norbury, A Norbury, J Riley, R Overton, J Stewart, S Maguire, J Gatus, J Ferguson.
