Late winner gives Huddersfield Town victory over Leeds United

MICHAEL Collins scored a dramatic last-minute goal to give Huddersfield Town a 2-1 win over Leeds United in the Yorkshire derby at Elland Road.

Leeds got off to a perfect start when Robert Snodgrass struck to open the scoring with only three minutes gone.

But the hosts were unable to kill-off the game and the Terriers levelled the match thanks to Joe Skarz's goal in the first minute of the second half.

United bossed possession but hard-working Town looked dangerous on the break throughout the second half and they struck the winner deep into injury time. Substitute Danny Cadamarteri tormented the Leeds defence before providing the cross for Collins to fire in the winner from seven yards out.

United manager Gary McAllister described the defeat as "very frustrating" and said: "I am disappointed to have lost the game and we deserved a draw.

"We did a lot of pressing but Huddersfield have done a job and it hurts."

The Terriers' caretaker manager Gerry Murphy said: "I am really pleased. This game was for the fans and it was important for us to put on a show."
