Lauitiiti: Success rides on right attitude for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats

Ali Lauitiiti insists he and his Wakefield Trinity Wildcats teammates need to have the right attitude if they are to bag their first points of Super League XVIII on Saturday.

The second row believes a poor attitude within the Wakefield camp caused their downfall at Bradford Bulls last weekend.

And he is confident Wildcats will not make the same mistake again when Hull KR visit the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

“It was a bad performance and I think it all came down to attitude,” said the former Leeds Rhino.

“We all knew we didn’t turn up to play. I can’t say that for everyone but we just didn’t turn up and Bradford wanted it more.”

“We’ve pin-pointed what happened. It was pretty simple - attitude.

“That’s all we’ve been talking about this week, attitude and wanting to play.”

Head coach Richard Agar bemoaned the physical aspect of his side’s defence at the Provident Stadium and Lauitiiti knows full well Wildcats will need to improve in that area drastically on Saturday against a big Rovers pack.

“They’re a strong team,” commented the 33-year-old.

“They have a big pack so it’s going to be physical so we’ve got to turn up with the right attitude and hopefully we can counter-attack their threats.”

Despite the poor start Lauitiiti still believes Wakefield can match last season’s top-eight finish.

“Yeah it’s possible, it’s only the first game,” he said.

“We take it game-by-game, I know it’s a cliche but that’s how we look at it.”
