Lines back in the dugout as Ossett Town prove a point at Frickley

Frickley Athletic 1 Ossett Town 1

PAUL Lines stepped back into the dugout at Frickley Athletic last night as his Ossett Town side took a share of the spoils away from the Tech5 Stadium.

Pat McGuire's third-minute opener was cancelled out by Adam Lee just four minutes later as both sides had to settle for a point in a crucial match at the bottom of the UniBond Premier Division.

It leaves the Stade France club six points adrift of safety but with two games in hand on nearest rivals Burscough.

And for returning Town boss Paul Lines it marks a positive start to his second stint in charge of the club, ending a five-game losing run for the club.

Lines took charge of Town for a second time at the start of the week after Peter Daniel resigned from his position following the 3-1 defeat against Worksop Town.

He got off to a superb start when McGuire fired a 30-yard effort through a ruck of players and into the back of the net just three minutes in to shock their hosts.

The lead didn't last long though as Adam Lee levelled with a clinical finish inside the box just four minutes later.

Frickley had the best of the first-half chances with Lee, Alistair Benson and Chris White all coming close for the hosts.

Ossett looked most dangerous on the break and Blues' stopper Adam Nicklin had to be alert to divert Darren Thornton's long-range effort over the bar.

The chances dried up in the second half but Fernando Moke and Ross Hardacre both saw half-chances come and go as Town had to settle for a point.

Frickley: Nicklin, Wood, Chapman, Walsh, Heath (Davies 45min), Jones, Bloor (Normington 38min), Groome, Lee (Goddard 24min), Benson, White. Subs not used: Grace, Hood.

Ossett: Sutcliffe, Fradgley (Exley 46min), Thornton, Hay, Plant, Foster, Moke, McGuire, Sheriffe (Lee Malcher 77min), Luke Malcher, Hardacre (Trueman 90min). Subs not used: Douglas, Simpson.
