Lines secures first point as Bears leave it late against Clitheroe
PAUL Lines picked up his first point as manager of Wakefield FC as the Bears rescued a late point in a six-goal thriller against Clitheroe on Saturday.
Tom Marsden hit a last-gasp leveller for the Bears in a see-saw Evo-Stik Division 1 North encounter that saw the hosts lead 2-0 before the Lancashire side turned the game on its head.
Daniel Sheriffe scored twice to see Wakefield 2-0 up after 24 minutes before the visitors hit back through Glodi Kuba-Kuba and Marcus Calvert to level before half-time.
Sam Madeley fired Clitheroe ahead in the 67th minute before Marsden gave Lines’s men a deserved share of the points.
Ossett Albion’s stuttering form continued as they suffered a 4-0 loss at home against high-flying Witton Albion.
It took just eight minutes for Daniel Andrews to find a way through the home defence and Joshua Hancock doubled Witton’s lead in the 15th minute.
Liam Newman made it 3-0 just before half-time and Andrews added a second with 17 minutes to go to rub salt into Ossett’s wounds.
Ossett Town’s scheduled trip to Mossley was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
