Marsden treble makes it a miserable night for Ossett Town

Ossett Town v Retford Utd - Phil Sharpe

OSSETT Town’s good run of form came to an end with a 4-0 home defeat against Woodley Sports last night.

Phil Sharpe’s men were unbeaten in five matches going into the Evo-Stik Division 1 North clash but Woodley made light work of their hosts.

Sports, pushing hard for a play-off place, took the lead just four minutes in at Stade France through Jack Dorney.

It was 2-0 just over ten minutes later when John Marsden hit the first of his three goals on the night. Marsden netted his second two minutes into the second half and completed his treble with ten minutes to go to bring a miserable night for Town to an end.

Ossett Albion also suffered defeat when they bowed out of the West Riding County Cup at the quarter-final stage against Harrogate Town.

Will Turl’s 68th-minute strike proved enough for Harrogate at the Warehouse Systems Stadium.

See this week’s Wakefield Express Sport for a full round-up from out Evo-Stik Premier League clubs.
