Mason clinches historic English cross country title
Annabel Mason
Wakefield Harriers’ Annabel Mason claimed the U17s ladies title at the English National Cross Country Championships on Saturday and in doing so, became the first athlete from the club to win an individual title at the event.
Mason, 16, overcame the wintry conditions in Sunderland and despite competing against older runners within her age group, headed the field in a time of 18 minutes.
Mason received great support from her Harriers team-mates, Rebecca Firth (28th), Faye Beckett (52nd) and Rachel Firth (70th) as the Wakefield club secured a superb fourth place in the team standings.
