Ossett Albion relegated at Curzon Ashton

Curzon Ashton 1 Ossett Albion 1

OSSETT Albion have been relegated to the Northern Counties East League after failing to beat high-flying Curzon Ashton last night.

Eric Gilchrist's men needed maximum points from the clash if they were to stand any chance of avoiding the drop from the UniBond Premier League.

Striker Shane Kelsey kept their hopes alive at half-time with a 41st minute opener which sent Albion into the break ahead.

But Ajay Leitch-Smith netted a leveller for the hosts seven minutes after the restart to sink the Warehouse Systems Stadium club.

It leaves Albion 13 points adrift of safety with just four matches and 12 points remaining to play for this season.

Ossett Town's UniBond Premier Division status continues to hang by a thread following their 4-1 home defeat against Marine.

Paul Lines' men got the perfect start to the match six minutes in when David Bordman fired them ahead.

But the visitors hit back at the Stade France to sink Town with a Jordan Connerton brace and goals from Dominic Ward and Danny Hattersley.

Town remain five points adrift of safety.
