Ossett Albion secure superb win over Skelmersdale United

THE chilly weather failed to deter Ossett Albion on Saturday as the Dimple Wells club picked up arguably their best win of the season at high-flying Skelmersdale United.

Albion were a goal down in Lancashire before goals from Marc Thompson and Richard Tracey saw the visitors come from behind to claim three crucial Evo-Stik Division 1 North points with a 2-1 win at Selby Place.

The victory, coupled with Wakefield FC’s 2-1 loss at Woodley Sports, moves Albion three points clear of the relegation places.

Things were looking good for the Bears in Woodley when Josh Grant fired them ahead in the 36th minute from the penalty spot.

The hosts came flying out of the traps in the second half, however, to level a minute after the restart through Bradley Maylett.

The game looked to be heading for a draw, which would have given Paul Lines his first point since taking charge of Wakefield, until the hosts snatched all three points with eight minutes to go through Joey Holt.

Ossett Town saw their scheduled home game against Trafford postponed due to a frozen pitch.
