Ossett Albion visit neighbours Wakefield FC looking to climb off the bottom

DERBY BATTLE: Action from the last meeting between Ossett Albion and Wakefield, which resulted in a 3-2 win for Wakefield.

A short trip to derby foes Wakefield FC will give Ossett Albion the ideal opportunity to bounce back from slumping to the bottom of the table on Saturday.

The Dimple Wells club suffered their lowest point of a season of struggle at the weekend as a 1-0 home loss against relegation rivals Garforth Town dumped them to the Evo-Stik Division 1 North basement.

Albion will not want to stay there for long, with a trip across the city to the Rapid Solicitors Stadium tonight (kick-off 7.45pm) giving them an immediate chance to climb off the bottom.

Paul Lines’s men will be no pushovers, however, after going to high-flying Mossley on Saturday and returning with an impressive 2-2 draw thanks to a brace of Caldon Henson strikes.

Wakefield also need points to ensure they avoid an end-of-season relegation scrap and, although the point at Mossley was their first in four matches, they go into the clash looking for a third home win on the spin.

The Bears will also be looking to secure a league ‘double’ over their near neighbours after winning 3-2 at Dimple Wells back in October.

Ossett Town could do both clubs a favour with victory over struggling Harrogate Railway Athletic tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

Craig Elliott’s men go into the game looking to bounce back from back-to-back defeats and looking to get their season back on-track.
