Ossett Town bid to rid 'losing mentality' in six-pointer at Worksop
OSSETT Town will look to go some way to ridding their 'losing mentality' in a proverbial relegation 'six pointer' at Worksop Town tomorrow (kick-off 3pm).
Town have suffered back-to-back defeats in the UniBond Premier Division in the last seven days, but in contrasting fashion.
An emphatic 7-0 loss against Boston United at the weekend was followed up by a much-improved performance in a last-gasp 2-1 loss at in-form FC United of Manchester.
It left Town in the thick of relegation trouble and desperate for points to claw themselves out of the bottom two - starting at Worksop this weekend.
But, although confident of grabbing the points to steer Town to safety this season, boss Peter Daniel insists a change in mentality won't happen overnight.
"As soon as we go a goal down a losing mentality kicks in with the players and it's a mentality which is hard to eradicate," he said.
"The circumstances have been the same since day one and it came to light more than ever against Boston on Saturday.
"Losing has become a bit of a habit and it's something that we need to get rid of.
"I've been here since the end of November but in that time I've only had eight matches in charge because of the postponements so it's been difficult to eradicate."
Three points against the Tigers tomorrow would go a long way to proving the Stade France club have what it takes to avoid the drop this season.
Neighbours Ossett Albion will also be looking for valuable points in their battle against the drop in Division 1 North.
Albion, who fell to a 5-0 thrashing in boss Eric Gilchrist's 500th game in charge of the club at FC Halifax Town in midweek, see their task get no easier this weekend when they welcome high-flying Colwyn Bay to the Warehouse Systems Stadium tomorrow (kick-off 3pm).
Wakefield FC return to league action tomorrow when they welcome Mossley to College Grove (kick-off 3pm).
The Bears suffered extra-time heartbreak in midweek with a 4-3 loss at Garforth Town in the semi-final of the West Riding County Cup.
But they'll be looking to put that disappointment firmly to bed with victory over Mossley in Division 1 North.
