Wakefield Wildcats head coach Kear tipping Leeds Rhinos for Challenge Cup glory

WAKEFIELD Wildcats head coach John Kear is tipping Leeds Rhinos to lift the Carnegie Challenge Cup tomorrow.

Rhinos will be looking to end an eleven-year Challenge Cup drought when they face Warrington Wolves at a sell-out Wembley Stadium.

And Kear, who has won the competition twice with Sheffield Eagles and Hull FC, believes Leeds' name is on the cup in 2010.

"I've said it right from round one. Sometimes your name's written on the cup and I think this is one of them," he said.

"I think a lot of times with the cup there's a bit of destiny in the Challenge Cup, there's always a story in the Challenge Cup and I think the story this time is Leeds finishing the long time between drinks.

"I don't think they'll win the Grand Final but I think they'll win the Challenge Cup."

Brian McClennan's men have reached Wembley the hard way, beating Hull FC, Wigan and St Helens en-route to their Wembley date with Tony Smith's men.

And, despite the influential Jamie Peacock missing the clash through injury, Kear believes Leeds will edge what he believes will be an entertaining tussle.

"If you look at the manner of the victories, the Wigan game you could argue they weren't the best team but they hung in there and snatched it at the death, St Helens overcame lots of adversity to play really well but again they hung in there to snatch it at the death so you just get a feeling that their names on the cup," he continued.

"But they'll have to play really well in the final because Warrington are playing some really good rugby league.

"I've really enjoyed watching how they play the game and some of the rugby league that they're playing so I think it'll be a very entertaining and open final and one for the spectators but I still think Leeds will win it."
