Wakefield Wildcats star Rooney signs for Barrow Raiders
WAKEFIELD Wildcats stand-off Jamie Rooney has signed for Barrow Raiders on loan until the end of the season.
The 29-year-old will go straight into Barrow's squad for tomorrow's Co-operative Championship clash with Toulouse at Craven Park.
Rooney has seen his first team starts limited at the Hearwell Stadium this season, making just five appearances in the red, white and blue and posting two tries along the way.
He missed the start of the 'Cats campaign after undergoing knee surgery which kept him out for two months - an operation which saw Rooney's heart stop on the operating table for 30 seconds.
The former England international's contract at Wakefield is up at the end of 2009 and Rooney could be playing for a full deal with the Raiders, who lie second in the Championship, one point behind leaders Halifax.
