Wakefield FC out to prove a point at FC Halifax Town

WAKEFIELD FC's start to 2009 couldn't have been much tougher but boss Ronnie Glavin is relishing the chance to prove his troops can compete with the best.

Following the New Year's Day local derby clash at promotion hopefuls Ossett Albion, Glavin will take his men to The Shay to face FC Halifax Town on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

And after powering up the UniBond Division 1 North table thanks to a superb festive season, Glavin is confident his men can cause an upset in front of what's sure to be a bumper crowd at The Shay.

"I'd like to think that we can compete there (at Halifax) and it's important that we do that," he said.

"We know it won't be easy going there and they're not at the top of the table for nothing but we've just got to go there and do what we've been doing for the last few weeks."

He continued: "They're a good side who play slick, attacking football in their approach.

"But our concern is with our own team and as long as we perform then hopefully we can get something from the match."

Ossett Albion will be hoping the Bears can do them a favour by beating Jim Vince's Halifax.

But Albion boss Eric Gilchrist will be fully focussed on his side's task in hand when they make the tough trip to Durham (kick-off 3pm).

The Warehouse Systems Stadium club sit above their play-off rivals going into the clash at the Arnott Stadium but face a side that are still unbeaten in the league.
