Wakefield Wildcats' Terry Newton escapes serious injury

WAKEFIELD Wildcats hooker Terry Newton could be fit and ready to face Catalans Dragons this weekend after scans on a bicep injury showed no signs of any serious damage.

The former Bradford Bulls man suffered the injury shortly after being introduced from the interchange bench in Wakefield's 18-10 victory at Harlequins on Saturday.

Head coach John Kear feared the worst following the set-back for the former Great Britain international at Twickenham Stoop.

But Scans today have revealed that he could be in the frame for a place in Kear's squad for the Wildcats' first home game of Super League XV on Sunday against Catalans Dragons (kick-off 3.30pm).
