Wildcats support Normanton Knights after clubhouse fire
WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats have stepped in to help stricken Normanton Knights Amateur Rugby League Club.
The Knights recently suffered major fire damage to their headquarters in Queen Elizabeth Drive and they are staging a major fund-raising effort to restore the facility.
And the Wildcats have given Knights permission to stage a bucket collection at the Hearwell Stadium on Sunday when Wakefield face reigning engage Super League champions Leeds Rhinos.
Normally the Wildcats are reluctant to allow collections because of the large number of charitable bodies who apply for the facility.
Francis Stephenson, the Wildcats' general manager, said: "This is something we can do to assist our neighbours and members of the Rugby League family.
"We're hoping for a big attendance on Sunday and we're asking all the fans to give generously so that the Knights can continue to offer appropriate facilities for the amateur Rugby League players of the town and provide a centre for their community."
