Elsewhere, Wakefield Thornes CC will be holding cricket coaching courses throughout the summer.

With cricket fever sweeping the nation, the club is keen to encourage more youngsters to get into the sport.

The courses are aimed at youngsters between the age of six and 13, and will be taught by the club’s team of qualified coaches, led by Sri Lankan bowler Tharindu Perera.

Children can choose between a half or full day of coaching, with no pre-booked required and registration available on the day.

The courses will kick off at Newton Hill CC on Monday, July 29 - Friday, August 2, before taking place at Wakefield CC the following week.

Two courses will also be run at Pledwick CC and Carlton CC between August 12-16.

A full day’s coaching costs £4, while a half day is £2.

Food and drinks will be provided but those attending for a full day are encouraged to bring a packed lunch.
