PROP forward James Purcell will be on the sidelines for a considerable time after breaking his leg and ankle in Sandal’s 14-11 win over National League 3 North rivals Morley last Saturday.

Sandal bounced back from 8-3 down at half-time to see off Morley at Milnthorpe Green but the unfortunate Purcell is one of those who will miss the trip to Lymm today, Saturday.

Purcell has undergone surgery while winger Stef Lig also sustained a knee injury that keeps him out of the squad. Winger Dave Martin, centre Mark Pease, second row Austen Thompson, flanker Tom Hirst are unavailable.

However, second row Rob Overton returns to the squad and full-back Tom Coad, who was injured for the whole of last season, makes his first squad appearance for Sandal in the National Leagues.

Prop Luke Norbury and promising young flanker Jonny Gatus are also named in Kilfoyle’s squad.

Sandal 1st XV squad v Lymm (away, kick-off 3pm): T Hodson, T Coad, A Orr, D McCormack, A Hall, J Mulhern, T Smith, G Newman, A Norbury, J Heron, R Norbury, L Norbury, J Riley, R Overton, J Stewart, J Gatus, S Whittingham, J Ferguson.

The players’ bus leaves at noon with supporters welcome.
