WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats head coach John Kear admitted that his side are “in a hole” following their heavy 70-14 loss at Hull KR on Sunday.
Rovers ran in no fewer than 14 tries to see off the visitors and after the game, Kear said: “We are in a hole. We’re staring down the barrel of a gun and we’ve got to come up with better efforts than that.
“The players are fully aware of that and you have to feel a bit of empathy with them because they’re turning up and trying their best.
“We’ve copped a hiding. It’s very disappointing but we’ve got to deal with it and try and come up with something for next week.”
He added: “We were in the game for 20 to 25 minutes. The starting 13 are going well, but it is when we’re having to make interchanges, which you are forced to do in such warm weather.
“They had a pretty good bench and starting 13. You can only fight with the fish you’ve got and that’s what we’re doing.”
