Slideshow: Wakefield Wildcats aim to improve further for Saints visit

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats boss James Webster believes that his team can push St Helens on Friday evening, if they can build on an improved performance against Wigan Warriors.

Wildcats suffered a 40-22 home loss to Wigan on Thursday, their ninth straight defeat in Super League, but the visitors were made to work hard for the points.

Webster said: “We played a lot better than what we did last week against Halifax.”

“We definitely did not get beaten on effort. In the second half when we tried to get a foothold of the game we came out with crucial errors at crucial times.

“I came here looking for an improvement and I got that. If we can make that same leap we might be close to getting something at Saints.

“We need to make that type of improvement over the next month each week to get us back where we want to be.”
