WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats head coach John Kear may not have a big squad to call upon but he has been impressed with his troops’ readiness to play in different positions on the pitch.
Kear wants his players to be adaptable and he said: “If you look at Kieran Hyde, people would have primarily put him as full-back but he played six as a junior.
“This revisiting of the stand-off half position has been a breath of fresh air for him and it’s certainly raised a few eyebrows among the backroom staff how well he has done.”
Kear added: “Josh Veivers has played two great games at full-back but he had a good half at Leeds as a centre.
“People say we have a lot of full-backs but we don’t: We have a lot of players who can play full-back as well as other positions and that is really heartening.”
