Wakefield Trinity Wildcats head coach Richard Agar is set to be unveiled as the new France head coach today.
Express Sport understands Agar will take on the role on a part-time basis on top of his duties with Wakefield and lead France in the Rugby League World Cup later this year.
Aurelien Cologni, Lezignan’s coach, has been in interim control of the national side but the French have been keen to get a coach with Super League experience on board this year with the World Cup just months away.
The French press are reporting Agar will be joined in a new-look set-up by Catalans Dragons assistant Jerome Guisset and Toulouse’s Gilles Dumas.
The role would not interfere with his job at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, with Agar having the chance to take to the training pitch with his international players during the Super League break for England’s international origin match against the Exiles in June.
The French Federation are expected to unveil Agar as the new man in charge of the national team at a press conference in Toulouse today.
