Paul Aiton bagged a hat-trick of awards at Wakefield Wildcats’ end-of-season awards ceremony tonight.
The hooker was rewarded for his top performances in the red, white and blue in 2013 by lifting the Players’ Player of the Year, Coaches Player of the Year and Man of Steel awards at the event, held at Oulton Hall in Rothwell.
Wildcats head coach Richard Agar paid tribute to Aiton in the Express last week by saying he has all the credentials to be a contender for the Super League Man of Steel award.
The Wildcats’ squad took a break from preparing for Sunday’s final Super League match of the season against Castleford Tigers to receive recognition for their efforts throughout the campaign.
Captain Danny Kirmond has been another stand-out performer in leading from the front and he received the award for the Try of the Year for his effort against Catalan Dragons.
Utility back Reece Lyne, who arrived in the close season from Hull FC took the award for the club’s Rising Star.
The Clubman of the Year award went to Lee Robinson, who is the club’s dedicated historian.
