Wakefield Trinity Wildcats prop Nick Scruton will be out for the rest of the season after undergoing thumb surgery.

The 29-year old will return in time for Trinity’s pre-season ahead of the 2015 campaign and becomes the second player to go under the knife in the last fortnight following Matt Ryan’s shoulder reconstruction.

Head coach James Webster hopes to be able to call upon Scott Anderson for Friday’s game against St Helens as he aims to return from a calf injury.

Dean Collis, Pita Godinet and Daniel Smith are all back in training after suffering knee injuries.
