Wakefield Wildcats skipper Morrison out to prove a point

AFTER Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ disappointing campaign last season, newly-appointed captain Glenn Morrison is aiming to lead a resurgent team in Super League XVI.

Events off the field have cast a shadow on the Wildcats’ pre-season preparations but Morrison is aiming to maintain focus on the job in hand. He said: “The way we finished last season wasn’t the best.

“We have brought in young players not big-name stars and a lot of people have written us off.

“With all the stuff happening off the field people are saying we won’t be here next week but we want to prove them wrong.

He added: “The people here want to play for the shirt and each other. That’s half the battle won.

“We want to be fighting for a place in the top eight at the end of the season.”
