Wakefield Trinity Wildcats second rower Ali Lauitiiti is to be awarded a three-month testimonial next year.
The club is currently arranging the testimonial game and will release more details in due course.
Lauitiiti, 35, who joined Wakefield in 2012 from Leeds and has been a consistently strong performer for the club, will now decide when the three-month testimonial will run.
The former New Zealand international, who penned a two-year contract extension last month, said: “I am not sure when the testimonial will be but I think it might be the summer.
“I am really thankful to get the honour. I am happy at the club and me and the boys get on really well.”
Lauitiiti expressed his desire to return home to New Zealand and coach the next generation of young players when his career ends but at the moment, his focus is on success with Trinity next year.
He said: “The aim is to get a settled pre-season under our belts and rebuild for next year. We will need to be at our best but our target will be the top eight. Personally, I just want to stay fit next season and play in as many games as I can.”
