WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats had no answer to a strong St Helens performance as John Kear’s men went down 52-6 at the Stobart Stadium on Friday.

The Wakefield boss bemoaned his team’s concession of possession to a rampant Saints team who ran in nine tries to register their fifth straight Super League XVI win.

The gutsy visitors competed well for the first half-an-hour in which tries from Jamie Foster and Jonny Lomax, converted by Foster, edged the hosts ahead 10-0.

However, Saints cruised to the points as Foster ran in his second of the game before Michael Shenton, Ade Gardner, Gary Wheeler, Paul Wellens, Tony Puletua and Tommy Makinson all crossed.

Foster kicked eight of his nine goal attempts to further bolster Saints’ tally while Wildcats responded through Chris Dean’s touch-down, improved by Josh Griffin, five minutes into the second half.
